Emergency Contraceptive Pill

If you have engaged in unprotected sex or your regular contraception method has failed, you may be concerned about the possibility of pregnancy. One option available to you is the morning after pill, which works by preventing or delaying ovulation.

Although commonly referred to as the morning after pill, it can actually be taken within five days after unprotected sex, depending on the specific type of pill. Taking the morning after pill as soon as possible increases the likelihood of preventing pregnancy.

It is important to note that the morning after pill is intended for emergency use and should not be used as a regular form of contraception.

If you require immediate access to the morning after pill, The Precinct offers emergency hormonal contraceptives for women who have had unprotected sex within the past five days. Simply visit our branch at your earliest convenience to have a confidential and supportive conversation with one of our pharmacists. They will provide guidance on your emergency contraceptive options and offer any necessary assistance or support.

Alternatively, you can also consult your local GP or visit a sexual health/contraception clinic for
further assistance.
